Long branded the birthplace of the UK's offshore wind industry, Mostyn has shipped and serviced more than 500 turbines from its berths in the outer Dee estuary. The privately run Port of Mostyn Ltd operates around 28 hectares with 310 metres of riverside quay, lock-free tidal access, a roll-on/roll-off ramp and a dedicated berth used to load Airbus aircraft wings. Cargo here is project-led — breakbulk, heavy-lift foundations and RoRo units rather than scheduled container traffic. New multi-purpose quayside is being built for fixed and floating foundation work. Inland links run via the A548 and A55 toward Deeside and Chester. Shippers needing container services use Liverpool or Birkenhead, while ferry traffic concentrates at Holyhead.
