Tanker operators, not container lines, are the customers at Mjimwema Terminal off Dar es Salaam. The facility is a Single Point Mooring (SPM) — an offshore buoy berth — where crude carriers of up to about 150,000 dwt discharge at rates near 2,500 m³/h. Submarine pipelines carry the oil ashore to Dar es Salaam storage and onward through the TAZAMA pipeline to Ndola in Zambia.
