Operated by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Mina Al Fahl is the country's principal crude-export terminal, sitting offshore about 10 km north-west of Muscat on the Gulf of Oman. Loading is done entirely through subsea pipelines and single buoy moorings, with the largest SBM taking tankers of up to 554,000 dwt and no draught restriction. The terminal ships crude and also handles gas oil and jet fuel, but it has no container, breakbulk or RoRo capability of any kind. Recent additions of tank and floating storage have raised throughput resilience for an operation moving on the order of 800,000–900,000 barrels per day. Inland connections run via crude pipelines from Oman's interior oilfields rather than road, rail or barge. Forwarders with boxed or conventional cargo for Oman use Sohar or Salalah, the country's working commercial gateways.
