# Milolii

Despite appearing on port lists, Milolii is not a commercial harbour but one of Hawaii's last traditional fishing villages, set on a remote lava plain on the south-west coast of the Big Island. Its natural cove, or awa, is used to launch and land outrigger and fishing canoes rather than to handle freight. There are no container, customs or bulk-cargo facilities, so its relevance to commercial shipping is minimal. Seafreight for the island is handled at Kawaihae Harbor and Hilo.
