Millhaven is a small hamlet on the north shore of Lake Ontario in Loyalist Township, west of Kingston, in a district (around Bath) once known for shipbuilding — the first steamboat in Upper Canada, the Frontenac, was launched nearby in 1816. Today the place is associated mainly with Millhaven Institution and no longer has a commercial port role, with no liner, container or bulk traffic and a cargo-pier depth of about 1.8 m. For freight capacity on Lake Ontario, shippers use Kingston, Oshawa or Hamilton.
