Western Finland's offshore-wind and heavy industry shape Mäntyluoto, one of the two harbour areas making up the Port of Pori on the Gulf of Bothnia. The terminal handles dry bulk, breakbulk, containers, project and RoRo cargo, and specialises in sawn timber and heavy-lift consignments. A roughly 50-hectare competence hub is being developed for the pre-assembly, storage and shipment of wind turbines; in early 2025 Tahkoluoto Offshore, the Port of Pori and the City of Pori signed a letter of intent on cooperation to that end. It targets the planned Tahkoluoto offshore wind expansion of about 40 turbines, scheduled for completion in 2028–2030. Road and rail links tie the port to the region's industry, making it well suited to heavy and outsized cargo. For forwarders, Mäntyluoto is the address for project, heavy-lift and forest-product flows; for pure container volume nearby Rauma is the alternative, with bulk and oil handled at the sister site of Tahkoluoto.
