Single-point mooring buoys, submarine pipelines and a floating LPG store define Malongo far more than any quay wall would. Located about 17 km north of Cabinda on Angola's Atlantic coast, the terminal is operated by the Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (CABGOC), a Chevron subsidiary, purely for the export of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas. Crude moves from an onshore tank farm through subsea lines to SBM/SPM berths where tankers load at an open roadstead, while LPG is held in floating storage and transferred ship-to-ship. The South N'dola field delivered its first oil to Malongo in December 2025; the new Cabinda Refinery, which began production in September 2025, also receives crude from the terminal, while associated gas is routed onward to Angola LNG. There are no container, breakbulk or general-cargo facilities here, and the deep anchorage serves tankers rather than liner trades. Forwarders handling boxes or project cargo use Luanda or the town port of Cabinda instead.
