A 723-metre quay with depth of up to 16 metres and Super-Post-Panamax cranes able to work ships of 16,000 TEU defines Noatum's container terminal at Málaga, on Andalusia's Costa del Sol, which is dimensioned for roughly 450,000 TEU a year. Throughput exceeded 110,000 TEU in the first quarter of 2022 alone, alongside well over a million tonnes of bulk and a substantial vehicle trade. Rail links, including a container service to Madrid and a dedicated Hapag-Lloyd connection, open the Andalusian hinterland, while the port's position near the Strait of Gibraltar serves European, North African and deep-sea trades. In the container segment Málaga remains a regional and feeder port beside the much larger gateway of Algeciras. Forwarders use it for Andalusian consignments, reefer and breakbulk and vehicle logistics; the very largest mainline services route via Algeciras or Valencia.
