Fishing skiffs and small coastal craft, not container ships, fill the natural harbour of Lucea in Hanover parish on Jamaica's north-west coast. The bay once shipped sugar from the surrounding estates, but today it is an open roadstead with no regular liner or container service. International cargo, box handling and customs clearance are dealt with at Montego Bay, about 40 kilometres east, or at Kingston. As a commercial freight port, Lucea is of limited relevance.
