Around 2.5 million tonnes of cargo moved through Londonderry in 2024, almost all of it dry and liquid bulk rather than containers. Operated by Foyle Port, the harbour on the River Foyle specialises in animal feed, fertiliser, coal, plywood and petroleum products, with trade the port values at roughly £1 billion supporting around 20,000 farms across Northern Ireland and the border counties.
