Empty cans inbound, frozen and canned tuna outbound — that single trade defines Levuka, the fishing port on Fiji's Ovalau Island built around the Pacific Fishing Company (PAFCO) cannery. Once a stopover for trans-Pacific steamers and Fiji's former capital, the harbour today handles roughly 90 vessel calls and about 30,000 tonnes a year, almost entirely tuna landings and cannery supplies.
