Bustling seventy years ago as a trading point between Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and northern Mindanao, Lazi on the south coast of Siquijor island is today a passenger and Ro-Ro ferry harbour rather than a cargo port. Trans-Asia Shipping Lines runs weekly sailings to Cebu City, Ozamiz and Iligan, and under the Philippine Ports Authority the port has gained a new passenger terminal and a Ro-Ro extension. Container and general-cargo handling, however, is minimal here. Shipments to Siquijor are better routed through the main Siquijor town port and the larger hubs of Dumaguete and Cebu.
