LARCO, Greece's ferronickel producer, owns and runs Larymna as a private industrial terminal on the North Euboean Gulf, so its quays serve the smelter rather than open commercial traffic. Vessels load ferronickel of 18 to 24 percent nickel content, ores and grit-blasting material in bulk, and discharge lateritic nickel ore and coal for the metallurgical process. The granular, low-carbon ferronickel shipped from here is used exclusively in stainless-steel production and reaches mills worldwide. There is no container, breakbulk or passenger handling, and the hinterland - LARCO's mines in Euboea and central Greece - is linked only by road. Customs and export formalities follow the plant's own operations and are not set up for third-party forwarders. Shippers with containers or general cargo should use Volos, the nearest commercial port, or the wider Piraeus area.
