Built to serve the Bolívar Coastal oil fields and long run by the former Lagoven, the La Salina terminal (VE LSV) on the north-eastern shore of Lake Maracaibo today loads crude and LPG for PDVSA – and nothing else. A rectangular loading island with two finger piers offers four berths from which Venezuelan grades, including the western Blend 22, move to buyers in the United States, Europe and Asia. Years of deferred maintenance show: without dredging, tankers are typically capped at around 350,000 barrels, and the shallow Maracaibo channel further limits vessel size. Hinterland connectivity means oilfield pipelines rather than road or rail corridors for commercial goods. This is a pure energy terminal, not a port for containers, breakbulk or project cargo. Shippers with general cargo should look to the city port of Maracaibo, while container traffic belongs at Puerto Cabello, Venezuela's principal box gateway, or La Guaira.
