A central buoy mooring plus several small private oil jetties make up the working core of La Libertad, on Ecuador's Santa Elena peninsula. The port is essentially a petroleum-handling facility: it loads crude and products along with salt, sulphur and pitch, and a large share of throughput is liquid bulk served by tanks and pipelines.
