Commissioned in 1940 and, at up to 940 MW, Denmark's largest power station in the 1970s, Kyndbyværket on the Isefjord in northern Zealand is today an oil- and gas-fired reserve and black-start plant operated by Ørsted, with a present capacity around 734 MW. Kept ready to restart the regional grid in an emergency, it is built around power generation, not cargo. Its harbour is purely an industrial jetty for fuel deliveries to the plant, with a cargo pier of about 6.4 metres, and handles no commercial container, breakbulk or liner cargo. There is no general hinterland freight connection in the usual sense; the berth exists for the power station. For commercial freight in the Zealand area, Copenhagen, Køge or Frederikssund are the appropriate ports.
