# Kyleakin (GB KYN)

**UN/LOCODE:** GB KYN

**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** Coastal (Natural)
**GPS:** 57.2667, -5.7333

Until 1995 Kyleakin, on the eastern tip of the Isle of Skye, was the island terminal of the short ferry across to Kyle of Lochalsh; the opening of the Skye Bridge that year ended the crossing and left a quiet harbour village. The very small natural harbour, with a cargo pier only about 1.8 metres deep, suits fishing, leisure and small craft rather than any commercial container or breakbulk cargo. Access is by the A87 and the Skye Bridge to the mainland. For freight into the area, the mainland via the Skye Bridge and the Inverness region are the practical routes.
