# Kudat (MY KUD)

**UN/LOCODE:** MY KUD
**Country:** Malaysia
**Water Body:** South China Sea; North Pacific Ocean
**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** Open Roadstead
**GPS:** 6.8833, 116.8500

Run by the Sabah Ports authority, Kudat sits at the northern tip of Borneo and works mainly as a regional outlet for general cargo and timber from northern Sabah. Facilities are modest — around 3,000 square metres of open storage, a CIQS terminal and forklifts for handling — and large-scale container services are not confirmed. Proximity to the Philippines also makes it a point for inter-island and cross-border small trade. Road is the only hinterland link; there is no rail. For containerised cargo and international clearance, forwarders use the Sepanggar container terminal at Kota Kinabalu, or Sandakan.
