Container throughput reached about 142,000 TEU at the Senari Terminal in 2024, while the wider Kuching Port Authority handled roughly 325,000 TEU and 10.42 million tonnes of cargo in 2025. Kuching (MY KCH) is the main port of Sarawak, on the Sarawak River in Malaysian Borneo near the South China Sea. It works through two terminals: Senari for containers, with six quay cranes, and Pending for general cargo. Because the river is shallow, a programme is under way to dredge the channel to 10.5 m and extend berths for vessels up to 3,000 TEU. Inland distribution is by road, as Sarawak has no rail network. For larger container ships and deeper-draft calls, Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu are the regional alternatives.
