Some 2,500 metres of quay split Kolobrzeg into a commercial basin on the east bank and a fishing basin on the west, where the Parsęta river meets the Baltic. As Poland's sixth-largest commercial port it is genuinely a working cargo site, handling dry and liquid bulk — grain, feedstuffs, fertilisers and chemicals — alongside timber and general cargo. Container capability is limited to small loads, so it is not a box port in the usual sense, and vessels are capped at roughly 100 m length and 5 m draught. The port also lands Poland's largest cod catch and runs a passenger and ferry operation that carried around 290,000 travellers in 2022, while cargo throughput was about 277,800 tonnes in 2023. For containers or larger parcels, forwarders turn to Szczecin-Świnoujście or Gdynia; Kolobrzeg suits regional bulk and breakbulk flows.
