Trawlers, longliners and processing plants set the rhythm at Kodiak, an ice-free deep-water port on Kodiak Island in the Gulf of Alaska. As one of the busiest fishing ports in the United States, with more than 2,000 commercial vessels, it lives on landings of salmon, pollock, cod and shellfish and their refrigerated onward shipment.
