Better known for cruise quays than container stacks, Copenhagen (DK CPH) is run together with Swedish Malmö as a single port by Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP), which handled just over 49,100 TEU on the Danish side in the first five months of 2025, up 32.7% year on year. Cruise calls, new-car imports, ro-ro traffic and dry and liquid bulk — oil products, cereals, building materials and scrap — carry far more of the tonnage. Container operations have moved from the old Levantkaj site to Ydre Nordhavn, a roughly 165,000 m² fossil-fuel-free terminal worked by two ship-to-shore gantry cranes and eight Konecranes straddle carriers on a 100-hectare land reclamation; CMP again posted revenue above SEK 1 billion for 2025. Kristian Durhuus became CEO in June 2026 and launched the "Digital Port 2026" programme, targeting AI-driven yard management and semi-automated gate processing to cut truck turnaround from 45 to 25 minutes. CMP also joined the Portchain Connect berth-alignment network in June 2026. The port marks its 25th anniversary in 2026; the Nordhavn tunnel planned for 2027 will give the terminal a direct motorway link. The Øresund Bridge extends the hinterland into Skåne. For pure container consignments into Denmark, Aarhus is the far larger gateway; clearance follows the EU Union Customs Code.
