Peter Pan Seafoods long defined working life at King Cove, running one of North America's largest salmon canneries until the plant ceased operations in 2023. The community on the Alaska Peninsula still lives almost entirely from year-round commercial fishing and seafood processing. Its Deep Water City Dock receives containerised and conventional general cargo, takes in fuel oil and handles passenger and vehicle traffic for the Alaska Marine Highway ferry; there is no scheduled container line, and supplies arrive by barge. The dock accepts vessels up to about 100 m at roughly 9 m alongside depth, while the small-boat harbour offers berths for some 50 vessels, a 150-tonne travel lift and a grid. For containerised or customs-cleared freight, Dutch Harbor/Unalaska and Anchorage are the realistic gateways.
