Deep-water sea berths operated by OTC, OCC and Okinawa Sekiyu, together with products berths and Tengan Pier, define Kin Bay on Okinawa's east coast as an energy and tanker port rather than a general-cargo gateway. Its main function is crude-oil storage: the Okinawa CTS base holds around 600,000 kilolitres of oil, including a strategic stockpile linked to Saudi Aramco. The cargo pier reaches roughly 15.5 m alongside, allowing large crude tankers to discharge, and the port records about 230 vessel calls a year. Containers and conventional general cargo are not handled here; Okinawa's box traffic moves through the port of Naha. Part of the bay also serves military use, which keeps the commercial role focused on petroleum.
