# Killybegs (IE KBS)

**UN/LOCODE:** IE KBS
**Country:** Ireland
**Water Body:** North Atlantic Ocean
**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** Coastal (Natural)
**GPS:** 54.6333, -8.4500

More than a kilometre of quay – including some 300 metres at 12 m water depth (MLWS) – makes Killybegs one of Europe's finest deep-water harbours, able to take vessels up to 300 m long, 40,000 dwt and 12 m draft. Ireland's leading fishing port, it lands around 192,000 tonnes of fish a year, worth roughly €125 million, handled by a large pelagic fleet. The same deep berths now draw general-cargo ships, offshore oil-and-gas supply vessels and cruise calls, and the harbour is being developed as a general cargo facility alongside the fishery. There is, however, no scheduled container service. Road is the only hinterland link, with no rail connection to the Donegal port. Forwarders needing container slots or full customs clearance route through Dublin or Belfast.
