Three berths of 60, 90 and 300 m, a basin around 10 m deep and capacity for ships beyond 180 m define Khasab, the port at the tip of Oman's Musandam Peninsula facing the Strait of Hormuz. Run by the ASYAD group, it is built for roughly 4 million tonnes of throughput a year and serves cruise calls, the National Ferry Company and trade with nearby Iran. Much of the working traffic is traditional dhow trade across the strait — consumer goods, foodstuffs and breakbulk moving toward Iranian ports — alongside seasonal cruise tourism. Large-scale container line services do not call here. Hinterland access is awkward: Musandam is an Omani exclave cut off from the rest of the country by UAE territory, so overland haulage runs through the Emirates. For container volumes or transshipment, Sohar, Khor Fakkan or Jebel Ali are the practical choices.
