Built in 1908 by the Canadian Northern Railway to ship iron ore from the Moose Mountain mine, Key Harbour on Georgian Bay handled ore only until 1916 and saw its dock dismantled in 1924. A second life as a coal dock lasted from 1929 to 1938, after which the site was abandoned. Today it is a ghost-town ruin with no active berths and no practical relevance for freight forwarders. Commercial Great Lakes cargo moves through Goderich, Owen Sound or Midland and the St. Lawrence Seaway.
