Scrap metal, gravel, sand and other metals make up the working cargo of Katsunan, a district of the Port of Chiba on the north-eastern edge of Tokyo Bay rather than a standalone harbour. Its public quays are complemented by automobile, food and steel-material operators, with the South Funabashi Central Wharf as the focal point. The wider Port of Chiba is Japan's largest by area and moves roughly 167 million tonnes a year, overwhelmingly bulk and industrial cargo.
