Crude oil defines Kanokawa Ko, a terminal on Etajima Island within the port area of Kure, just south of Hiroshima. The site is run by Mitsubishi as an oil and tank terminal, storing roughly 760,000 cubic metres of crude and petroleum products in large tanks. A deep approach of around 17 metres lets it handle large tankers, but there are no facilities for conventional breakbulk or container cargo. Connections run via the shipping lanes of the Seto Inland Sea and by road across the wider Kure-Hiroshima area. For liquid bulk this is a specialised energy port; for containers and general cargo, the nearby ports of Hiroshima and Kure are the right choice.
