Where most ports court container lines, Jazireh-Ye Sirri exists for one purpose: loading crude. The Iranian island in the Persian Gulf exports the Sirri Blend produced by surrounding offshore fields through a deep-water jetty on its eastern side, offering roughly 28 m alongside for tankers up to about 330,000 dwt. Storage capacity runs to around 4.5 million barrels, fed by fields such as Nosrat, Esfand and Sivand. In 2026 Sirri gained additional operational significance: following attacks on Iran's Kharg Island and Lavan Island terminals, the island was used more intensively as an in-Gulf alternative crude-export facility. Simultaneously, Iran expanded operations at the Jask terminal on the Gulf of Oman — outside the Strait of Hormuz — as the primary route for exports designed to bypass the Strait entirely. There is no commercial handling of containers, breakbulk or general freight here, and international sanctions further constrain open-market chartering. For containerised or conventional cargo to Iran, Bandar Abbas (Shahid Rajaee) is the relevant gateway.
