Two billion dollars and a 1,000-kilometre pipeline were meant to turn Jask into Iran's gateway for crude beyond the Strait of Hormuz. The terminal at Kooh Mobarak, north-west of this small Gulf of Oman town, exported a single test cargo in late 2024 and has shipped little since, leaving the project largely dormant. The town port itself handles only limited general and local cargo, with no confirmed container or international customs operation. Naval activity, not commercial freight, dominates the roadstead. Forwarders routing reliable shipments to southern Iran rely on Bandar Abbas (Shahid Rajaee) instead. For now Jask matters as an energy-policy asset rather than a cargo port.
