Around 100,000 TEU and some 2 million tonnes of non-containerised cargo move across Iloilo's quays each year, making it the busiest commercial port on Panay. In 2024 ICTSI won a 25-year concession to run and upgrade the Visayas Container Terminal, the city's international gateway. The multipurpose harbour handles containers, breakbulk, dry bulk, petroleum products, LPG, fish and Ro-Ro as well as passenger traffic, served by roughly 627 metres of quay and about 20 hectares of yard. For forwarders it is the main customs-clearance and distribution point for the Western Visayas, with road links into the Panay hinterland. Feeder boxes often route via Cebu, which together with Manila remains the alternative for larger international volumes. Reefer and project consignments are worked at the general-cargo berths.
