Steel coils, cement, copra pellets and drums of industrial chemicals define the cargo passing through Iligan, the port of an industrial city on Iligan Bay in northern Mindanao. Overseen by the Philippine Ports Authority and operated since 2021 by Globalport Terminals, the port handles hot- and cold-rolled steel, coconut crude oil, petroleum products and chemicals such as caustic soda, chlorine and sodium hypochlorite, while a private quay run by Global Steel Philippines serves the former steelworks. RORO and LOLO services plus a passenger terminal round out operations. Mainline international container services, however, do not call here regularly. Road links open up Lanao del Norte and the wider northern Mindanao market. Containerised freight is normally routed via the Mindanao Container Terminal near Cagayan de Oro or the port of Davao.
