With a marina of more than 180 slips, Hilton — historically Marksville, now the village of Hilton Beach — is one of the largest recreational harbours in the North Channel of Lake Huron, on St. Joseph Island in Ontario about 60 km from Sault Ste. Marie. Although a wharf has stood here since the 1850s, the site today is geared to sailing and leisure rather than commercial shipping, with no liner, container or bulk services. Its freight relevance is very limited, and commercial cargo for the area is handled through Sault Ste. Marie and the wider Great Lakes system.
