Henichesk — also rendered Genichesk — is a shallow Sea of Azov port that carries no significant commercial freight today. Long associated with fishing, salt extraction and local ferry traffic, it has very limited berth depth and has been under Russian occupation since 2022, leaving regular maritime trade suspended. Forwarders moving Ukrainian containers or customs-cleared cargo route instead through the Black Sea ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk and the Danube ports of Izmail and Reni.
