Containers, dry bulk, break-bulk, liquid chemicals, petroleum and edible oils, automobiles, crude and LNG all move across Hazira, making it one of South Gujarat's most versatile deep-water ports. On the Hazira peninsula about 25 kilometres west of Surat, the port combines Adani Hazira's container and multipurpose berths with a Shell-operated LNG import terminal and the adjacent ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel works. Typical trades include coal, steel, sulphur, fluorspar, gypsum, cement and fertiliser alongside containerised cargo. Road and rail links feed the wider Gujarat industrial belt, and customs clearance for foreign-trade cargo is well established. For forwarders, Hazira works equally for boxes and for industrial or liquid consignments. Where container volumes are very large, Mundra and Nhava Sheva (JNPT) remain the bigger gateways.
