Serving Iceland's capital region alongside Reykjavik, Hafnarfjordur is a versatile general- and bulk-cargo port on the country's southwest coast, about seven nautical miles from the capital and part of the Faxaflóahafnir (Ports of Faxaflói) group. With no railways in Iceland, hinterland distribution is entirely road-based across the capital area. Shippers needing container liner services should use Reykjavik; for aluminium and dry bulk, Grundartangi is a further option.
