Hachinohe Ko (JPHHE) on the Pacific coast of Aomori Prefecture, northern Honshu, is one of Japan's rare ports combining a major fishing industry with a full industrial terminal. Its 48 berths (channel depth 14 m, pier depth 12.5 m, max LOA 230 m) handle around 30 million tonnes annually — inbound grain, cement and woodchip, outbound ferro-nickel and steel products. CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, PIL and FESCO operate container services to Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Australia, the Americas and Europe. The port also serves regular ferry connections to Tomakomai (Hokkaido) and occasional cruise calls. As Tohoku's principal distribution hub, Hachinohe connects its agricultural and industrial hinterland via a strong road network. For larger volumes: Sendai-Shiogama or the Keihin ports of Tokyo/Yokohama.
