Gwadar's potential still outstrips its scheduled traffic. This deep-water port on the Arabian Sea in Pakistan's Balochistan province is the flagship of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), operated by the China Overseas Ports Holding Company and fully commissioned in 2021. It is technically equipped for general cargo, containers and bulk, yet throughput remains far below expectations and well behind Karachi.
