# Great Jervis Harbor

**Country:** Canada
**Water Body:** North Atlantic Ocean
**GPS:** 47.6500, -56.1833

About 16 metres of anchorage depth and little else: Great Jervis Harbour, on Newfoundland's south coast near Hermitage Bay, is a sheltered natural anchorage with no cargo pier, no charted channel depth and no UN/LOCODE. Commercial freight handling is not documented here and should not be assumed. What drives the surrounding Coast of Bays area is salmon farming — Cold Ocean Salmon, part of Cooke Aquaculture, runs a processing plant at Hermitage and moves product out by road. For real ocean cargo, use Harbour Breton or Hermitage locally, and route containers and breakbulk through St. John's, where Oceanex sails con-ro services to Montreal and Halifax.
