**Country:** Brazil

**Harbor Type:** Open Roadstead
**GPS:** -23.0500, -44.2167

An L-shaped concrete pier of about 1,300 m, with two berths for tankers of roughly 350,000–500,000 dwt, defines Gebig, an oil terminal on the Baía da Ilha Grande near Angra dos Reis, some 70 nm west of Rio de Janeiro. Operated by Transpetro (Petrobras Transporte), it handles crude oil, diesel and fuel oil, plus bunkering, in water depths exceeding 20 m. Despite older descriptions to the contrary, Gebig is not a container port and processes no boxed or general cargo. For containerised and conventional freight, Rio de Janeiro and the container port of Itaguaí (Sepetiba) are the appropriate gateways. Clearance follows Brazilian customs and energy-logistics practice for liquid bulk. As a deep-water terminal, Gebig mainly serves crude-oil and petroleum-product flows for the greater Rio region.
