Trailers queue at the ramp while a Stena Line ro-pax loads for Gothenburg – the everyday rhythm of Frederikshavn, on the north-eastern tip of Jutland. Stena Line runs the ro-pax terminal here under a 50-year agreement, with up to six daily sailings to Gothenburg in the May–August peak and around four for the rest of the year. Cargo is firmly roll-on/roll-off: accompanied and unaccompanied trailers carry the bulk of freight, while lift-on/lift-off containers are handled only on request. The port also hosts Orskov Yard, a long-established repair and conversion shipyard. Road and rail move cargo onward into the Jutland hinterland. For scheduled container-line services, Aarhus or Aalborg are the better fit, but for the Denmark–Sweden corridor Frederikshavn remains the natural gateway.
