Two cross-country pipelines define Finnart Oil Terminal: a 20-inch line carrying imported crude oil eastward to the Grangemouth refinery and a 12-inch line returning refined products for export. Sitting on the eastern shore of Loch Long in western Scotland, the deep-water berth handles crude tankers of up to around 324,000 tonnes thanks to a channel depth of 23.2 metres. This is a pure energy terminal: it processes crude and petroleum products only, with no container, breakbulk or general-cargo facilities. Following Petroineos's closure of the Grangemouth refinery in 2025, Finnart is itself earmarked for closure, which sharply reduces its forward freight relevance.
