Container cranes built by Liebherr in nearby Killarney are the cargo that keeps Fenit on the shipping map, accounting for almost all of its roughly 15 sailings a year. On the north side of Tralee Bay in County Kerry, Fenit is the only commercial port between Foynes and Cork and the westernmost in Ireland. Its 175 m deep-water pier takes vessels up to about 17,000 dwt, alongside a fishing fleet and a 130-berth marina in a genuinely mixed-use harbour. Scheduled container or bulk services are not confirmed – this is essentially a project and breakbulk outlet. For regular boxes or dry bulk, forwarders use Foynes on the Shannon or Cork.
