Rated at about 90,000 barrels a day, Ez Zueitina is one of four major oil export terminals in eastern Libya's Sirte Basin — an energy outlet, not a cargo port. Sitting on the Gulf of Sidra some 180 km southwest of Benghazi, it is run by the Zueitina Oil Company, which loads the 'Zueitina Blend' grade and also exports volumes for partners such as Eni, Wintershall and OMV. Tankers lift several hundred thousand barrels per call at an open roadstead. There are no container, breakbulk, reefer or RoRo services and no commercial customs clearance here, and operations are periodically halted by force majeure tied to Libya's political situation. Forwarders with shipments for Libya should use Benghazi or Misrata.
