More than 120 million barrels of crude have flowed from the Etame Marin block since 2002 — but Etame (GA ETA) is an offshore oil terminal, not a cargo port. Lying about 40 km off Gabon, the field is operated by US company Vaalco, which reported output of roughly 19,000 barrels a day in 2024. Crude is gathered by a floating production and storage unit (FPSO/FSO, formerly the Petroleo Nautipa) and lifted by tanker at an open roadstead. No container, breakbulk, reefer or RoRo services operate here, and there is no commercial customs clearance. The terminal exists purely to produce and export crude. Forwarders with shipments for Gabon should use Owendo near Libreville for containers and general cargo, and Port-Gentil for other traffic.
