Eight deep-water berths, around 4,000 m of quay and an 18 m draft equip Duqm, Oman's large greenfield port on the Arabian Sea, operated by Asyad Ports and integrated with the 2,000 km² SEZAD special economic zone. A container terminal opened in 2024 (over 1,000 m of quay, 600 reefer plugs) is lifting capacity towards 1.7 million TEU, with roughly 1.4 million TEU expected in 2026 (up about 15% on 2024) and a planned Terminal 3 set to add a further 2 million TEU. The port handles containers, dry and liquid bulk and project and heavy-lift cargo serving SEZAD industries, after strong 2024 growth of about 152% across all cargo types. The site includes the Oman Drydock Company's two dry docks for ship repair and the OQ8 refinery (around 255,000 barrels per day), in full operation since the first half of 2025, which drives crude import and product export. For established transhipment and container flows in Oman, Salalah and Sohar remain the larger hubs, with Duqm positioned under Vision 2040 as a fast-growing alternative. Hinterland access is by road, with rail part of national network planning.
