Pastel timber houses and a busy marina line Drøbak on the eastern shore of the Oslofjord, a town better known today for tourism than for cargo. In the 18th century it acted as Oslo's winter alternative, loading ice blocks and timber and returning with grain and manufactured goods. It now has no commercial container or general-cargo terminal, and a seasonal passenger ferry links it to Oslo and the Oscarsborg fortress. Forwarders route the region's containers, RoRo and bulk through Oslo, Moss and Borg/Fredrikstad.
