Imported cars — most of them electric — are the signature cargo of Drammen, Norway's leading vehicle gateway on the Oslofjord. Around seven of every ten cars entering the country pass through here first, and 2025 set a record of 148,348 vehicles landed from 213 car carriers, after zero-emission models made up 94% of imports in 2024. Many are inspected and fitted out at the port before delivery to dealers. RoRo traffic is the core business, while the Holmen-Syd and Kattegat quays also handle containers, project cargo and bulk. Total quay length runs to 894 metres. Hinterland distribution uses road and rail into greater Oslo and beyond. For large-scale container liner services, Oslo is the obvious alternative, whereas Drammen's strength lies firmly in vehicle and RoRo handling.
