Operated by Pemex, Dos Bocas Terminal at Paraíso in Tabasco pairs a crude-oil single buoy mooring with the new Olmeca refinery commissioned from 2022. Sitting on the Gulf of Mexico about 60 nautical miles east-north-east of Coatzacoalcos, it is purely an energy port handling crude oil and, increasingly, refined products led by diesel. The Olmeca refinery is built to process 340,000 barrels per day and is tied to the loading and discharge facilities by pipeline. Containers, conventional breakbulk and customs clearance of general merchandise are not part of its role. Shippers with boxes or project cargo use Coatzacoalcos or Veracruz, and Altamira for container services. Dos Bocas therefore remains a tanker and products terminal centred on petroleum.
